Fellow Watchmen,
Last week was the Feast of Booths (Sukkot), the appointed time (Moed) that pictures God coming down to dwell with us on the earth. The LORD Himself stated its purpose: “that your generations may know that I made the people of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt” (Leviticus 23:33-43). Those booths were temporary dwellings where Israel learned God’s ways (through Moses, miraculous signs and Torah). They learned to follow His command (guided by His visible presence: cloud by day, fire by night Num 9:15-23, Ex 13:21-22), learned to trust in His provision (water, manna, quail, shoes Ex 16:4, 13-15, 17:1-7, Deut 29:5) and learned to trust Him in battle (Amalek, Og, Sihon Ex 17:8, Num 21).
In the same way, the saints of the first resurrection (from mature saints to those freshly saved like the thief on the cross) Lk 23:39-43, will spend the Millennium—a temporary age—in His presence, (ruling and reigning with Him), learning to apply the law with grace and mercy, enjoying His provision and strength. The final fulfillment will be in the New Heaven and Earth, where God will physically tabernacle with us (same phrase used for Jesus coming in the flesh Jn 1:14) on Earth forever, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God” (Revelation 21:3)
Moses sums up the entire 40 years they spent in booths (in the wilderness) as a time to learn humility, be tested and taught to trust in the Lord. “And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Your clothing did not wear out on you, and your foot did not swell these forty years. Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you. So, you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him. (Deut 8:2–6)
Part of this week’s celebration includes gathering 4 types of branches, bound together and offered to God. “And you shall take on the first day the fruit of splendid trees, branches of palm trees and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. Lev 23:40 The four species represent four kinds of people, measured by the two marks of fruitfulness that Scripture itself uses: the Word (taste) and works (fragrance).
Citrus — taste and fragrance: those who have both Faith in the Word and good deeds
Palm — taste, no fragrance: those who know the Word but little fruit
Myrtle — fragrance, no taste: those who have works of mercy but little knowledge of the Word
Willow — neither: those who appear to bring nothing
These are not four separate offerings, they are bound together as one unit. People with varying degrees of Faith in the Word and Works, made up of Israel and the nations, the person bearing a hundredfold fruit and the thief on the cross with nothing, bound and offered together so that we may know He still makes all His people dwell with Him.

Baltic nations, with Poland, are preparing mass-evacuation plans in case of war with Russia.
The US ended Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq on 30 Sep by removing last troops from Iraq to Jordan. The counter-ISIS mission in Syria continues.
Iran’s IRGC wrote letter to Americans on 29 Sep and told them to change the government and vote out the current leaders.
France: high-school fires and blockades over teachers, crowding, and buildings, spreading to universities. Police said more than 160 schools were shut Thursday morning. 625 arrested
1 Oct: Pakistan struck inside Afghanistan. Kabul says nine were killed, including women and children. Pakistan says they were militants.
29 Sep: the UN said it was alarmed by reports that a Myanmar military airstrike in Kyauktaw, Rakhine, killed 50 and wounded dozens.
1 Oct: the Saudi-led coalition said the Houthis hit a power station in Medina that supplies the Prophet’s Mosque. The Houthis denied it.

Gulf crude traffic is picking up again but now there are fewer refineries that can produce diesel. Fertilizer shipments remain effectively stopped.
Russia has limited diesel exports. Gasoline stays banned into January. Diesel from the refiners stays banned through this month. Jet fuel stays banned through November.
China has stopped October fuel exports past Hong Kong and Macau, until Beijing says otherwise. This can tighten supplies for Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.
Several US states and India are cutting or suspending fuel taxes to keep it affordable.
G7 agreed to release 100 million barrels of oil and diesel over four months after US threatened diesel-export ban, later Trump said it was never really on the table.

Kilauea in Hawaii is still erupting. A shallow intrusion on 30 Sep–1 Oct.
